On day 7 of NaPoWriMo, Donna Sadd requests the pleasure of your laughter poem.

#NaPoWriMo – Day 7 – Laughter – #Kids | Donna L Sadd.

Here’s mine:

Laughter

When my father
was young,
he went to work
painting backgrounds
for animated gels
in a cartoon studio,
The first day
he sat in on a session
of daily rushes,
giggling helplessly
at the gags
until the other
artists turned
around to glare
at the fool who
thought their
work was funny,
funny, isn’t it
how easily we
all forget what
we are really
doing here?

  1. Today

    I wake up a stone,
    cold and still,
    motionless,
    holding nothing, but
    my own inner
    granite,
    my own flint rock,

    but then,
    with the lightest
    hint of breeze,
    I feel the rustle,
    the rumble
    of wildflowers
    tickling pink and gold
    beneath
    me,

    and my whole
    world erupts
    in petaled
    giggles.
